The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations are changing in 2009

One of the significant changes that will effect our clients is that written information should now be supplied by the Carrier of the dangerous goods and not the consignor which is good news for our clients.

The Government regulates the carriage of dangerous goods for two main reasons:

  • Firstly, to promote safety: effective carriage regulation helps to minimise the risks involved in transporting dangerous goods which protects the population, environment and economy;
  • Secondly, to promote a level playing field: Dangerous goods can only be transported within the UK and internationally under similar broad regulations to minimise the burden on industry and protecting public safety.

Anyone who is involved in the transportation of dangerous goods or who has an interest in the way dangerous goods are transported should be aware of the changes coming into force.
